Default thirdparty CD-Drive attached to Smart 2/p Controller

Hi NGs,

I'm running a Proliant 1500 with a smart 2/p controller.
There are 5 internal drives and the cd-drive attached to it (internal
port).

If the Compaq-CD-Drive is attached Windows shows this drive, but if I
attache any thirdparty drive (Teac in my case), the system shows the
drive on boottime, but Windows needs about halft an hour to boot and
then fails on showing the CD.

The drive is OK, cause if I plug in a second SCSII-Card and attache
the drive to this one, windows has no problems.

Background: I wanted to use the Teac instead of the original Drive,
cause it reads newer CDs without problems. The old CPQ-Drive doesen't
recognice CD-RWs or other CDs like these. Also I need to attache it to
the Smart 2/p, cause it only boots from there. If I attache it to an
other Controller, it wont boot from it.

Any Suggestions or Workarounds?

regards
