Default Restoring registry?

I have backups of my harddrive. I was messing with the registry and would
like to restore it before my edits. What file(s) would I have to copy over
on to the harddrive to replace the registry?.
The Microsoft restore feature for some reason lost all its restore points
when I did a restore via that method and i want to go back further but now
there is no data. So im wondering if I can use my daily backup data for
that.

Thank you for any tips.

Try NTBackup which has a System State Backup option.

You can use the windows recovery console to backup & restore the
registry manually, or to restore registry backup into
c:\windows\repair\ made by some vers of ntbackup. The easiest method
is to create a batch file and run the batch command from the recovery
console command prompt.

for details try he
