Dual Core 820 vs 830
I am in the process of ordering a Dell 9150 with either the 820 or 830
processor. The 830 costs $100 more than the 820. Would I see $100 difference between the two in normal service? (no gaming.) I do a bit of graphic and video processing along with web site creation. Where would the 830 be superior to the 820? Dick |

Dual Core 820 vs 830
Both the 830 (2x3GHz) and 820 (2x2.8GHz) are dual core processors. Dual
cores really shine when running multiple processes at once. I don't believe the average guy would notice a great deal of difference between these two processors. Perhaps you can go with the 820 processor and put that $100 savings to upgrade to RAID 0 drives (2x160GB). That $100 will be very well spent and will more than overcome the difference in processor speeds. But be aware that with RAID 0 drives, if one drive fails all data is lost.
