PB 286 parts found
I picked up a PB 286 at the town transfer station (that's town dump for those
who live in less snobbish towns) Saturday. It was pretty much stripped, but I did pull the 286 motherboard, riser card, and ST-238R RLL hard drive. The CPU is a 12MHz AMD 286. I also kept the wire leads to the motherboard with their LEDs and keyboard connector. PB was one of the earliest brand names to use a South Korean assembler and/or parts clearly Korean... Ben Myers |

Ben Myers Neato! Was the case destroyed ? (I note that you pulled the parts) Was the Seagate drive connected to the motherboard, or a RLL contoller ? How much memory, or was it gone ? SIPP's, DIPs, or SIMMs ? bob |

No memory on the motherboard as far as I could tell. The Seagate was cabled
directly to the mobo. The case was not in super shape. Then there is the kinky old PB power supply with its single connector, instead of the old AT standard pair... Hi Ben !
"Ben Myers" wrote in message ... No memory on the motherboard as far as I could tell. OK, but what type of mem did it use ? Simms, SIPPs, or DIP's ? ( I'm betting SIMMS. ) The Seagate was cabled directly to the mobo. Interesting......I don't think I have ever seen that. I *do* have an old 286 moboard with an IDE connector. Which I think is pretty rare. But an RLL connector is really interesting. Neato. bob The case was not in super shape. Then there is the kinky old PB power supply with its single connector, instead of the old AT standard pair... Ben Myers |
