Recommendations for NAS?
Hi,
I am looking for a NAS solution. Has anyone had experience with Hitachi WMS100 or AMS200s? http://www.hds.com/products_services...dular_storage/ Thanks, Todd |

If you'd like to tell us what you're trying to do, someone will probably be able to point you in the right direction. HVB. Uhmmm.. You know that HDS recently introduced NAS modules for their AMS/WMS gear, right? CIFS and NFS for now, iSCSI appearently later in the year.. Rob |

Recommendations for NAS?
Thanks for the responses everyone.
Do you know if the HDS products perform as poorly as SAN devices? We are looking for a SAN device for our data center. Sorry for the confusion about NAS. Thanks, Todd |

oups.com... Thanks for the responses everyone. Do you know if the HDS products perform as poorly as SAN devices? We are looking for a SAN device for our data center. Sorry for the confusion about NAS. Thanks, Todd HDS is right up there with IBM and EMC for SAN's. Great performance and very reliable. For a good advice you'll need to specify what you expect from them. How many servers will be accessing the system and what type of applications and performance do you expect? 5 file servers with home directories have completely different requirements then 50 big-a** database servers Do you need off-site replication? Dual-path fail-over? Mainframe support? Tell us more.. Rob |

Recommendations for NAS?
If you want an enterprise class NAS server, choose the NetApps products.
They are heads above the competition. Equallogics rocks for iSCSI, EMC for SAN, HP for Virtualization in SAN. In my opinion, these are the best solutions in these areas. Certainly there are other manufacturues that play in each area that are very good as well, but in my 15+ years experience, you can't go wrong with the above recommendations. Having said that, the results you see will depend on what configuration you have and that depends on what you want to do with it. As Rob said, HDS are right up there with EMC and IBM, certainly top-tier. HVB |
