Help with booting of CD
"Per" wrote in message ... Hey, i just got a Packard Bell from a friend of mine, don't know which model. The hardware in the machine is 450mhz, 128mb ram, and a maxtor harddrive. it should be from around the year 2000. The problem iam haveing is that i cant boot a cd, i don't know which bios i got. The information in the bio says "AMERICAN MEGATRENDS EASY CONFIGURATION 1.6", but "American Megatrends" says i got a NEC bios. So iam unsure, i have edited the boot list, so it should boot the cdrom. But it dont, any help regarding this would be grateful. Hi Per: You mean you want to "boot from a diskette" depending on what version of Windows you may have you need to make a boot disk from the OS. Since I don't know what your actual OS is you can go he http://www.bootdisk.com and take a formatted diskette into the floppy drive and then download the Windows 98 or Windows ME boot disk with the full Oak drivers for cd rom support. Now in the BIOS you must set the sequence to a-c-cd rom not many systems boot from the cd rom unless they are Windows XP or NT. Good luck. I hope I helped? Elector |
