Default SONY DW-U18 DVD RW drive won't read on my new ASUS P4800-E but works fine on my machine at work??? Ideas?

My DW-U18 DVD RW drive just dropped dead (won't read, but system
recognizes the drive) in my home system after working fine for about a
month. When I plug it into my work machine it works fine.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling through Device Manager. The
device uninstalled, the system recoginzed it upon boot and reinstalled
the driver without intervention, but it still won't work.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Reg
