opteron and athlon 64 cache difference
i'm looking up info the athlon 64 and opteron. one site is saying the
opteron has 128k L1 cache and the Athlon 64 has 64k + 64k L1 cache. Is this the same thing described differently or is their cache different and if so, what's the difference? thanks, Matt |

The diff is the memory controller. 72 bit for A64 and 144 bit for Opteron/ A64FX. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.html |

There could also be a diff in L2 cache. Some A64's only have 512K, others have 1024K. I don't think you'll see a change to L1 cache sizes in the near future. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.html |
