Is it possible to load XP on one of those thumb things with memory
that fits into the USB 2 port and boot the system with it?

I read through the link you provided and decided it was simply beyond my ability. Think I will try an external drive using USB 2 although I wonder if it slows everything down to use an external USB drive. Any idea?

Boot question
Yes, USB 2.0 is slower than ATA133 or SATA disc access, but it is usable.
