Windows server2003 compatibility???????
probably not the ideal platform for this kind of thing...
why did you choose 2003 server? NuTs "BBB" wrote in message news:M4RPb.5585$Ur.329513@localhost... Should "capture" work on my g4 ti4400 when using server 2003?? Where are the capture drivers Thanks, BBB |

Where are the capture drivers Thanks, BBB Server 2003 is not a problem - it uses the same drivers for all hardware as XP (I use this myself). So you should be fine with capture, I have had no problems at all with this O/S. P.S. Have you looked up the web guide on how to turn XP's look and feel ON with 2003? |

"BBB" wrote in message news:tyRPb.5595$Ur.329337@localhost... I have a dual xeon system. My understanding is, I have to use server2003 if I want to enable hyperthreading on the xeons. Operating systems then see 4 processors, only server 2000 and 2003 supprot 4 processors. If I'm wrong please correct me Although you're thinking of 2 CPUs and hyperthreading as 4 CPUs, it is really only two real CPUs as far as the PC is concerned and XP Pro will recognize two CPUs AND the hyperthreading situation - and yes, you will see it correctly displayed in the Device Manager. I certainly wouldn't use a Server O/S to do what you want.... it's so locked down. If it's within 30 days of purchase return it to MS and get your $s back, and get XP Pro. Cari www.coribright.com |

Technically, he is wrong... I have dozens of 2000 servers running on HT
Xeons with no problem. The only thing that sucks, is performance monitoring is wack on 2000, whereas XP and 2003 have native libraries to handle the logical processor addressing. If you have 1 Xeon with HT on, XP will show you TWO processors in the device Manager. If you have 2 Xeons with HT, XP will show you 4. But... it knows the difference between the physical processor and the logical processor, * provided that the bios on the board was coded in such a way that the OID's on the physical/logical processors are presented correctly. If it is not, then your milage may vary. But I would do the same thing anyway. Go with XP. the hyperthreading doesnt really get you that much in the end anyway. In some circumstances, HT will hurt your performance. Return 2003, get XP (and spend the extra money you get back on bears....) and you should have a much, much easier time with this project. I would say, it sounds like your hardware is a bit overkill for vidcap... the XP2200+ would probably fair just fine for that application. Hello, I am new to this, so I may be missing somthing. I have snapstream installed on my machine. It is a "Tivo" software. When I do the setup it tells me my machine has no capture card or is missing the drivers. How can I view the signal I'm sending into the computer by s-video from my sat receiver? PS. I've got it set up to look like xp. Thank-you very much! Brent "v56k" wrote in message ... BBB wrote: Should "capture" work on my g4 ti4400 when using server 2003??
