Default Gigabyte 8PE667 - Fan on Northbridge

I cannot imagine that little fan is making enough to be heard over the case
fans?

Do a quick search on the newsgroups using google for answers.

Hello,
There's a little fan on the northbridge of the 8PE667
Would like to remove it in order to reduce noise.
Has anyone done this? Will the northbridge still receive enough cooling?
Pls let me know your experiences
Thanks,
Boudewijn

Hello,
You would be surprised to hear how much noise these sort of very small fans
make.
Just because they are so small they have to spin very fast to achieve any
form of cooling, and it's precisely this speed that's responsible for all
the noise. On the other hand, a 120mm case fan spins very slowly and is
therefore mucgh more quiet.
Anyway, the less fans the better
Regards,
Boudewijn

You may change the active cooling to a passive cooling. I am using the
ZM-NB32J on my Gigabyte GA8-IPE1000Pro without any problems.
