Maxtor 30 gb not recognized
I have a fairly new Maxtor ata 133, 30GB HD, that I just received a
few months ago as a replacement for an older HD that went to heaven. On boot up, the HD shows as the secondary slave, but when Windows comes on, the drives letters (E, F, G, H) do not appear. Does anyone have any suggestions? Windows does not boot from this drive. I have an old Fujuitsu 10GB that I put Windows and program files on. |

Did you format each partition? Dave |

Yes, each of the partitions was formatted and in use. There was quite
a bit of data on them. One morning I looked and a bunch of drive letters had just disappeared. Maybe you're just unlucky, but it seems a bit odd that two drives have had problems... perhaps an overheating, power supply, cabling, or IDE controller problem? Dave |
