Athlon64 3200 only running at 575Mhz.
It's not just the System tab in Computer Properties. This computer really
is running at 575Mhz, according to geekbench and Sisoft Sandra. In Linux, the system runs at 2ghz like it should, but whenever I boot into Windows the system is sluggish, games perform badly, and benchmarks return absolutely abysmal results. I've disabled cool'n'quiet in the bios, installed cpu drivers from AMD, re-installed Nvidia platform drivers, nothing has any effect. What else can I look at? |

In the bios you could try changing from auto to the default settings you
know of for the cpu multiplier and voltage. -- Ed Light Bring the Troops Home: http://bringthemhomenow.org http://antiwar.com Send spam to the FTC at Thanks, robots. |

If that doesn't work try uninstalling the AMD driver, if Windows shows that it is a driver from AMD itself and not microsoft. -- Ed Light Bring the Troops Home: http://bringthemhomenow.org http://antiwar.com Send spam to the FTC at Thanks, robots. |

I tried re-flashing the bios, clearing the bios, tried different hard drives, and nothing worked. Finally, in desperation, I removed the cmos batter and disconnected the power supply for a few minutes. I re-connected power and battery, problem has gone away. One of the stranger problems I've ever dealt with. |

Do a search on Google for "Cool n' Quiet", and read about it. It is a good thing! Honu |

Interesting about a voltage of this CPU at this clock. My Sempron 3200+ has 1,15V at 1000Mhz

If I reboot the PC after the initial BIOS self-test, but BEFORE it has started booting Windows, it gets stuck in low-speed mode. I have to disconnect the power for a few minutes before it will reset itself, clearing the cmos and powering off via the power switch on the power supply doesn't work. Brian K |
