Default For what it`s worth concerning Dell printers

No surprise. That's where all the money is. (ink)

DETAILS MATTER
The Lexmark and Dell multifunctions (printers) we tested look nearly
identical, and so do their ink cartridges. But a design tweak requires
you to buy ink for the Dell only from Dell. The Lexmark cartridges are
sold through retailers at lower prices.

correct. and it is potentially a problem if you run out of ink when you
really need it (tax time for instance). but i bought one of the dell
printers for a particular use only after researching the cartridge
situation. it appears that dell's prices on the cartridges for their
machines are better than what i could find for the comparable lexmark
cartridges for the comparable lexmark machine. and the printer itself was
much cheaper than the lexmark equivalent. for the frugal types, it may be
helpful to know that the lexmark refill kits work on the 'dell' branded
cartridges as well. if dell sells enough of these printers then the clone
cartridges makers will start making dell replacements cartridges like those
they sell at staples for lexmark, epson, hp, etc.
