upgrade p5-133
Forgive my ignorance. The computer was a gift. Should I be able to add
memory (64MB existing) and how can I attach a film scanner? Must I avoid USB? What do USB and SCSI signify, not stand for, anyway? Thankyou for your attention. |

wrote in message ... Forgive my ignorance. The computer was a gift. Should I be able to add memory (64MB existing) Probably; the RAM will be expensive (it's either EDO or FPM SIMM or 2-clock PC66 SDRAM, the latter of which is unavailable new now). and how can I attach a film scanner? Must I avoid USB? USB requires Windows98SE minimum and a USB card - even if there are USB ports on the system, they're old and out of date. What do USB and SCSI signify, not stand for, anyway? Thankyou for your Universal Serial Bus -- newer mode of connecting peripherals, 12 or 480 Mbps depending on whether 1.x or 2.x. Small Computer Systems Interface; high-bandwidth connection; too many permutations to summarize. You're not going to be pleased with the performance of a scanner on a P-133; best would be to get a PIII minimum (you can easily buy a used PIII-600 for $100 or so). |
