need help with burner

Hi
I bought a few weeks ago a dvd burner a plextor px-712a and i all
ready had
a lg cd burner both worked fine for a while but now for some reason i
can not
burn cd's any more nero or cdrwin wil simply close a few seconds after
the burn process begins.Dvd burning is ok.

I tried reinstalling aspi driver , 4 in 1 hyperion , i uninstaled all
burning apps, reinstaled nero and i still have the same trouble .Any
help would be appreciated.

Remove any 3rd-party IDE controller drivers and run only MS drivers.
Use KillASPI to remove whatever you installed, you don't need additional
ASPI, Nero has it's own.

I just used killaspi and removed the hyperion drivers but no success.

Well for the hell of it have you used the old 4.60 aspi layer?
I tried using the newer ones once and had problems with some drives.

I had the 4.6 drivers on when the trouble began.To find a fixe i
updated to 4.71 and came back to 4.6 with no results.

I remenber installing a trial version of fireburner about at same time
my problem began i am not shure when it really beagan since i was not
burning cd's lately mostly dvd's.That app. installs a driver called
patin-couffin i wonder if that would be related.I uninstalled all
burning apps and reinstalled only nero perhaps that driver left
somthing behind. I never got fireburner to work and uninstalled it
after a short period.

Maybe somebody has experience with that?

Well theres always the dreaded WIN XP reinstall. Or try rolling WIN XP
to a restore point before the fireburner install . Im assuming you are
using WIN XP cant remember if you are.

I assume you have used aspicheck to make sure what version is still
installed on your system.

And you could try NERO speed to check your drives to see if anything
obvious comes up there.
