SoundBlaster Live 5.1 noise when shutting pc down (win98)

When closing down my pc (Win98) the speakers make a god awful noise. My mate
has also this sound card and gets a similar thing happen. Have I done
something wrong since getting this card last week or is this something I
have to put up with? It's only for a 3-4 second blast right near shutdown
but if listening at the time at 2am then it frightens the **** outta ya. Any
ideas???

from what your saying it sounds like its just siomething thast happens with
some cards. it siometimes happens with steroes as well.
most reviews will mention if this happens so im not to sure if you read a
review.
there is a scientific reason for this but im sure you dont want me go to
into it.
