SMARTGART Fast Write HELP
Hi Guys,
I have a Radeon 8500. I installed the Cat 3.6, went to SMARTGART and could see that Fast Write was off. Did the Retest All and got it to turn on. (however current status off) hit apply and was asked to reboot. When back in it still off. In short, I just can't turn it on. I read in my favorite magazine, Maximum PC June 2003 that Fast Write is part of AGP 2.0 Spec, so I checked my motherboard manual (Soyo Dragon Plus) and yes, it supports AGP 2.0. Why can't I turn the darn thing on ? Any help I can get is highly appreciated Thanks ! |

: I guess Omegadrive recommends to turn it off since it doesn't provide any speed gains and it decrease stability. Well that makes me happier cause it implies that I don't have to worry about it. I still can't figure out why I can't turn it on though. It's possible that you may need to go into the bios and switch it on if it has an option. It could be overriding the smartgart tab setting. |
