XP 1900+ running at 1.2GHZ??
Hello, I am a complete newbie, please be gentle! I have been reading
various groups recently and noticed that my 1900+ is running at 1.2GHZ when I assume it should be running at 1.6GHZ. How do I get mine to run at the maximum speed bearing in mind I am completly new to overclocking? My mobo is the Asus A7V266-E, chipset VT8366A and my BIOS version is 1011. Thanks in advance. |

Set the FSB to 133 instead of 100. 12x133.34=1600Mhz. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.html |

You need to reconfigure your system using the BIOS setup program. (I am assuming you know how to invoke the BIOS setup - if not, read your motherboard manual. ASUS have the motherboard manual in Acrobat format on their web site if you can't find your copy.) From the BIOS 'Main' menu screen, select the 'Advanced' menu and you will see 'CPU Speed' listed. Assuming your CPU has not been unlocked, you should be able to choose between Manual/1200/1600 for this entry - you obviously want to select 1600. Exit the BIOS setup saving your changes and reboot the PC. Just out of interest, what CPU temp does the BIOS report for your system? (select the Hardware Monitor entry on the 'Power' menu in the BIOS for this - leave the PC running a while to get a stable temp). |

The CPU temp is 47C/116.5F, is this ok? |
