Default Roadmap for P4 400 MHZ

I have a P4 1.8 @400 Mhz. I was planning to upgrade to 2.6 (that's
what my mobo supports), however, the prices got locked at $200 lately
for 2.4 and 2.6 and they seem to be hard to find everywhere. Will
Intel (or have they already) stop manufacturing this type soon? Should
I go ahead and upgrade now?

It probably isn't worth the money for the trivial performance increase.
The biggest factor for the P4's speed has been bus & ram bandwidth. If you
want a faster computer, you'll probably need a new one. For future
upgradability potential, the AMD path has been less bumpy in that regard.

Sorry, but I have to disagree that upgrading from 1.8 to 2.6 is a
"trivial" increase. Furthermore, I like the stability and compatibilty
of Intel processors. Thank you for your reply, though.
