Into AT8 flawlessly for about a month - any comments out there!
Just checking to see if anyone else wants to talk about their Abit
AT8s. Either the RD480, or the (RD580 about to be on the market now or sometime in March). I didn't want to wait for the RD580, which is the Discrete Graphics chipset. I'm not a gamer, so the RD480 (Integrated Graphics) was good enough for me and VISTA will work good with the RD480, even though I'm satisfied with XP x64 (no problems finding drivers). Anyway, absolutely no problems with it so far. Oh ya, I don't care for the Cool 'n' Quiet. I turned off Cool 'n' Quiet in CMOS and didn't install the Cool 'n' Quiet Technology software (drivers?). When I did have Cool 'n' Quiet working, it caused lots of abnormal behavior at system start-up (lots of beeping and automatic restarting). Works flawlessly without Cool 'n' Quiet. The Cool 'n' Quiet would knock my CPU speed down to 1.0 GHz from the 2.4 GHz default. Less voltage to the CPU, less GHz, lower CPU temps, so what! {With the Normal uGuru settings, my fans are quieter and my CPU temp stays down to about 90 degrees Faranheit anyway. I used CERAMIQUE (thermal interface compound) to install my CPU.} My Northbridge temps stay up there. Can anyone explain to me what Cool 'n' Quiet was meant to accomplish? |
