Group.. I've read a lot of good information on this newsgroup.. I
know there are other resources available for the kind of information I
am asking here, and in addition to that, I was hoping I could get some
recommendations here also. Google searches yield irrelevant results,
even with modifiers. To avoid wasting everyone's time, which is
valuable, I'm posting the requirements that I'm looking for.

I have purchased a Desktop PC Case, that will fit a MicroATX
motherboard. The specifications do not appear to support Intel
processors, but seem to work on AMD brand processors. Here, I know
I've already limited my availability for the board I can use, however,
I'm not looking for massive upgradeability.. just a machine that
shares files.

I've read mixed reviews of the Realtek chipsets for (onboard/add-in)
Ethernet boards. I'd like to steer clear of the Realtek chipsets.

It would be NICE to have onboard IEEE1394 but not a requirement.
It would also be NICE to have dual LAN but I doubt that's gonna
happen.

An available AGP slot would be benefitial. I have the room to put one
in for slots on the back of the case.

The brand of board, should I say, is irrelevant. I've searched my
favorite companies with not much success.

For as much as possible -- I have an existing AMD Athlon XP 1700+ CPU
& PC2700 DDR RAM. Reusing those would be benefitial and cost saving
(I don't need the top-o-the-line CPU power or RAM speed. 5+ years
later, maybe.. but we're talking now.

Everything else is fine about the board, I would imagine. The machine
will run either FreeBSD or OpenBSD, and connected to a UPS.

And where you come in, is if you've have used, or are using a board
that even comes *CLOSE* to fitting this description I would like to
hear about. I know times and models upgrade. I still would like to
hear about it. Thanks many in Advance!

Tim
