Wow -- finally a 12" laptop worthy of the XPS name. FINALLY slot
loading. LED screen ... hopefully that would mean very long battery
life. Very exciting -- a Mac Book killer.

Tomorrow Jeff Hawkins, founder of Palm, is going to announce the
mysterious device he has been talking about for 2 years. Many
speculate that it's going to have a keyboard. Could be a UMPC lite,
who knows... but it may compete in the space where ultra portable
laptops operate.

The interesting thing is that the first Windows Mobile (at that time
CE) devices were solid-state devices with keyboards. The ones I
recall (a Casio) and the one I have, HP Jornada 728, had smaller
keyboards -- I think if any company would have produced a device with
a full-size keyboard, it could have been a success. On the 728 I can
edit Word and Excel in native mode -- but, not compatible with Vista's
new method of sync'ing.

Anyway, it will be interesting -- I have some Palm stock so I am
hoping for a jump, but sometimes stocks sell on good news. Palm has
been resting on its laurels for too long -- it's time for them to
produce something new and good, especially since the Treos are showing
their age.
