Default Western Digital My Book Premium edition installation

Hello:

I have a Gateway Intel Pentium 4, 1600 Mhz computer with 512mb of
memory running Windows XP Service Pack 2. I just bought a Western
Ditigal Premium edition 250 gb external drive. It should be a plug
and play device, but my computer won't recognize it. I have gone to
the WD site and downloaded software, but no luck. It says I don't
need drivers.

Any idea why my computer won't recognize it?

Can you try the firewire interface ?

Why go from one slow and obsolete interface to another

To see if there is a problem with the drive or just the USB, ****wit child.

when the drive is clearly dead and should be returned?

You dont know that yet, ****wit child.

Can be something as basic as a screwed USB stack.

TOTAL NONSENSE! It's a bad drive. Simply get a replacement.

You could try deleting all the USB controllers in the Device Manager
and rebooting and see if that allows the drive to be seen.

The USB has already been deemed working properly as he determined
this from the proper operation of all his other USB peripherals

Thanks for that completely superfluous proof that you have
never ever had a ****ing clue about anything at all, ever.

If the USB stack is screwed, that can and does affect just one drive.

It's been determined prior to you posting
