Default Compatible SATA Burners

The Samsung SH-S183L has been flawless with my Gigabyte bd and Vista. But I
suppose most of them would work equally well.

Default Compatible SATA Burners

I have been using the Plextor drives from day one on SATA, around 2 years
now, without any problems.

Yes, Plextor the cadillac of burners. I am looking for a budget
oriented SATA burner.

I'm using a LiteOn 20x SATA drive with my P5B-Plus based MB. No
problems with it; works great. I haven't had any experience with any of
the others, so I can't give an informed opinion. I've used LiteOn CD
and DVD drives/burners for years and have not had a problem with any of
them.

I also use a LiteOn SATA DVD R/W drive with no issues at all. It also
seems to work well with about all media I have tried, even the cheap,
on-sale Dynex media.

It will burn the cheap media. Over the years, the burners from all
manufacturers have become very good at extending their compatibility to
almost all media. The question you have to ask yourself when buying
el-cheapo blanks is whether you're interested in being able to access
the data a few years from now. If that answer is yes, then stick with
blanks like those from Verbatim. If you really don't care -- i.e., if
you're burning throw-away disks for short term use or copies of
multimedia stuff for which you retain the original, then the Dynex crap
is probably OK.
