Default K8NXP SATA-II Drive problems

Bios Version : F7
OS : Windows XP Pro SP2
Controller : NForce4 Ultra (Not Sil)

I seem to be having an issue whereby the K8NXP-9 seems to hate SATA-II
drives, to the point where my Hitachi Deskstar 7K250 just locks up the whole
system after sustained read or write operations in Windows. Tested the
drive, - works perfectly for hours when Suse Linux is installed onto it.

I've had to fall back to using an IDE drive on this mobo as SATA simply
isn't stable.

Has anyone else suffered this problem or found a solution? Pretty
frustrating.

Reflash back to F5 which is great if you use SATA-II... F6 and F7 seem
didnt work great as it run slighty slow - I used Maxtor DiamondMax 10
(300GB and 250GB which has SATA-II feature) and I plugged into SATA-II
port and seem run lots faster also I loan my mate same hard drive as
your and it worked great with BIOS F5 and got problems with F7...

so I stayed at F5 after all which is lots faster...
