Default DVI vs VGA Output

I hope this isn't an incredibly dumb question:

My LCD monitor has only a VGA cable plug-in, while my Ti4800 card has both a
DVI and VGA output. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to connecting to
the DVI output on the card using the adapter that was included vs. going
with the straight VGA output?

You'll get the same kind of signal either way. The DVI-I port on your
Ti4800 contains both digital and analog signal pins; the adapter just
takes the existing analog signal pins and mates them with a standard
15-pin VGA connector.

You might get slightly better results going straight to the VGA
connector simply by avoiding the extra mechanical connections, but I
don't think it would be noticeable. I run two identical CRT monitors at
work, one connected through an adapter to the DVI-I port on my Ti4200,
and I can't tell which is connected where without unplugging one or the
other.

The adapter just turns it into an ANALOG connector, no advantage to
useing it, unless you have 2 analog monitors.

If your monitor is an 18" or bigger display, the DVI looks A LOT
BETTER and faster than Analog. But your Monitor has to have DVI
support.

I'm shocked of the number of 19" that DON'T have DVI.
