performance difference from the 2200+ chip I have relegated to my spare
machine.
I thought that by increasing the cache and putting the FSB up to 166MHz
would make a significant difference to the performance.
The Sandra benchmarks are all but identical to the 2200+ and the 3DMark
scores are about 5% up.
AMD seem to be hyping up their chip ratings without making much progress
in
real terms.

He wasn't trying to be rude, he was being serious. Typically the most
upgradeable aspect of a computer is either the video card or the memory
quantity. The processor, while being the most hyped aspect of a computer,
is not the main bottleneck of a typical computer.
