Anyone have any thoughts on Asus? I'm looking to buy an A6712U-LH
notebook. What is their backup like? I know I can get support if I buy
from Mesh, but I seem to remember there were some negative posts about
Mesh.

I have had two Asus laptops.

My mine gripe is that Asus don't sell spare parts in the UK and Europe
so you have to send it back to Asus to get anything fixed. Annoying if
it's something which could easily be replaced like a keyboard.

How long have you had them then? Have you needed parts for them and are
you happy with them otherwise?
Just ordered an A6U-B090H so I'll soon find out if they are any good.

Just found this on Google:

It seems they buy in from Far East so parts tend to get expensive, but
if Asus keep your system a long time its a tradeoff, price v repair
duration.

Had the Asus L38C for 3 years before giving it to a friend around a year
ago. Had an Asus S5n for about 18 months.

Have you needed parts for them

Yes, but only because I am highly skilled at ruining keyboards by
spilling drinks all over them

and are
you happy with them otherwise?

Yes. When I was buying the S5n the alternative with a Thinkpad X40 which
was significantly more expensive, slower, and didn't come with an
external CD/DVD drive.
