Default Presario 7470 Questions

I have one of these Camaro motherboards (PWA-PWA),I am going to build up
from scratch - 550MHz, Just cause I am board I guess.

Anyway, is the floppy drive or any other components proprietary to Compaq?
Or can I use any generic floppy drive?

One other question, what about the RAM, I know It's 168pin PC 100, but what
about compatibility, I think I read somewhere that these boards are kind of
touchy about what kind of RAM you put in them, can I put just one 256Mb
stick of name brand in to start?

TIA

Thanks,

RHD
