Western Digital Drives Lack Software
Anyone buying a WD external USB drive and is running windows 98se be
prepared for a search for the driver. The morons don't have one in the box or on their support site. You have to call tech support, wait 45 min. and then beg. |

Are they appropriate? http://support.wdc.com/download/#usb BTW, when all else fails, you can check the IDE-to-(firewire or USB) bridge chip on the PCB, and download the driver from someone else selling kits, empty enclosures, etc, using same bridge chip.
