5610 firewire
Group,
I just purchased a 5610 at a tag sale for 40 bucks.Wiped the drive and installed winxp.Everything works just fine except for the on board firewire. It is an Adaptec AIC 5800 chip.I've searched for hours and found nothing that works. Is it even possible to get this working?I 've found many different drivers, most for win 98,or unspecified.MS site says any compliant ieee1394 should work natively,it does not though.I had a slot one 700mhz chip around, that worked.I had an extra 60 gig drive, that worked. This would be an excellent spare to play with for my digital camera if only the firewire would function. If not I guess I'll put the 350 chip and the old "bigfoot" back in it and give it to one of the neighborhood kids,Adysthemic |

What OS? I have a 5600i, which is very similar and XP's native drivers work
fine for the Firewire port. Tom "Adysthemic" wrote in message ... Tom,
Dunno. The part numbers for the systemboards in the 5600i and 5610 are different. There's a possibility the 1394 chips are not the same. HH "Tom Scales" wrote in message ... What OS? Addendum. I think the 5600is came with a Texas Instruments 1394 controller.
I know some in the 5600 series did. HH "HH" wrote in message ... Tom, Dunno. The part numbers for the systemboards in the 5600i and 5610 are different.
