Help! Inspiron 8100 Keyboard and Hot Coffee Disaster
Before this thing locks up again...I spilled hot coffee on the keyboard yesterday, mopped up with tissue and reassembled it. Should I just chuck it and buy a new 8600 or should I send it to Dell for $$$$$ repairs?
Thanks! |

Hello,
Is the system still functioning? To what level did you disassemble the computer and mop "up with tissue"? We recommend in situations like you described to immediately power off a system and take necessary steps to remove all liquid. One thing you might try to do would be to use a small wet/dry vac to suck out any stay drops out of the keyboard and any other cracks, etc. Target sells a very small handheld "ShopVac" that is perfect for this as well as performing your regular physical system preventative maintenance cleanings. After that, you should give the system ample time for any remaining liquid to evaporate before powering the system back up. After you perform those steps, you can decide on which is the best way to proceed. Hope this helps. -- JLA ENTERPRISES TECHNOLOGIES INTEGRATION Technical Support Team Check out some of the items we are offering Dell Docking Stations starting at $5.00 Dell 21" Flat Screen Monitors starting at $40.00 Dell Latitude and Inspiron CD Rom and Floppy Drives starting at $5.00 Be sure to visit http://www.jlaenterprises.com "Larz Kremer" wrote in message ... I spilt milk on mine a while back. Unplugged, disassembled, and dried out.
Didn't function, so I ordered a new one. About $40, I think. "Larz Kremer" wrote in message ...
