For NDMP backups?

Hi!

That's a good point. Before I changed everything, each netapp was

Any ideas?

Well, like I said, when I was doing this the talk of SSO for NDMP was
out there but AFAIK it never materialized.

I manage a few filers but do not manage the backups. And if SSO
existed I'm sure they would have mentioned it...

Scheme is:

NetApp-----[FC]-----Switch---[FC]-----Tape Library
Media Server------[FC]--^

Real scheme is bigger, just more NetApps.

Tape Library is Adic Scalar i2000, with 6 LTO-2 drives. There are 2

FC
blades. Two FCs connect each one to the switch.
Switch zoned, so all netapps see all 6 tape drives. (sysconfig -t

dumps
drives list, last drive has index 5)
Media server is running Veritas Netbackup 6.
There is network, and all hosts are accessible from each other.

Now, the project is to make backups for netapps and some clients

around
network.

I defined a storage unit in veritas, along with NDMP hosts, and

started
backup. Speed is about 700Kbit/s from netapp. Media server gets the
data from NetApp, and sends it to the tape drive over the fiber

channel
connection.

Probably, I misconfigured something here. It supposed to be all

over
FC
connection, without loading up ethernet, and much faster too.

Any ideas?

THis may have changed in NBU somewhere along the line but last I
recall each NDMP server had ot have it's own dedicated STU or at

least
drive.

I got it working. Veritas compains that I don't have CSO license, we're
looking forward to get it.

I see activity on brocade switch, that traffic goes from netapp FC
interface and hits the ADIC FC interface.

Another problem appers to be - very slow speed of backup. First 300 Mb
- 15 Mb/s, then whole process stalls for 1-2 hours, then it goes with
200-500 Kb/s.

Any ideas on this one?
