Software reads of a AAA-UDMA raid array

I have...had an Adaptec AAA-UDMA radi5 ide adaptor.
I had HDx dying in the past, dying along with all data it contained... So,
eventually I bought an affordable raid 5 card. I though I could put
important data on a 3 20gig HD raid 5 array since any one drive could die It
would still be possible to read data.

But now the actual raid adaptor died on me. I am pretty sure I could
recuperate my data if I could find another such adaptor, but I don`t want
to...It turned out NOT to to be a good purchase.

Still is it possible, maybe in Linux, to individually mount the 3 drives and
access the raid5 array ? I mean without the hardware... I understand it
might be slower....(maybe not, the AAA-UDMA was pretty slow anyway)

Sadly, we tossed our AAA-UDMA in the trash about a year
ago. (Quite the piece of garbage when compared to even
something as lowly as a Promise SX6000.)

Maybe pick one up on ebay?
