AMD has now adopted the same instruction set that Intel did, so there is
unity again. However, AMD is probably hoping most people will be
adopting GPU computing through OpenCL soon.

They must be praying that people adopt GPU computing: on a gigaflops/core
rating, currently Intel are beating AMD by about a 3:1 ratio.
Maybe their Pilerivers are okay for database servers, but in the number
crunching stakes, AMD have lost it badly.
