Default USB 2.0 / 1.1 Ports on GA-8IPE1000 Pro Rev 2.0

Hi,

I have the Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro Rev 2.0 mainboard. It has an
Intel 865PE Springdale chipset. The manuals states that there are 8
USB 2.0 / 1.1 ports. I see the 4 connectors mounted on the back of
the board, and also the header pins for Front1 and Front2 USB.

When the board boots up and identifies the onboard PNP hardware, I see
4 USB 1.1 Host Controllers and 1 USB 2.0 Host Controller. In Windows
XP Professional Device Manager, this same configuration is shown.

I thought these should all be USB 2.0 controllers, right? Since each
controller has a root hub, doesn't this total 10 USB ports instead of
8?

Can someone explain why this board reports the USB hardware as such?

Thanks,
Shawn
