I can't answer the Linux question, but yes, this printer appears to be
very good value (it is being discontinued). It is being sold at this
price point throughout the US at larger retailers as well.

The big advantage is the printer comes with full toner cartridges good
for 6000 Black and 4000 per color at 5% coverage.

There is a link for Linux drivers from the HP drivers page. This leads to
the sourceforge site, with support for thousands of HP printers. See

At least we can agree that Linux is a better OS than Vista. Microsoft
cannot even wait to get the next OS out the door and replace Vista.
Only someone like Da Jerk will argue that point.
