the price is irrelevant - i just need the best cooler for this type of
processor! everyone's tellin me to buy Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu! does anyone have any exprience with it?? "Nate Edel" je napisao u poruci interesnoj ... Artistar wrote: what's the best cooler for pentium 4 2.8 Ghz?? Define "best:" - Cheapest, and cool enough for a non-overclocked processor? - Quietest, and cool enough for a non-overclocked processor? - Coldest for overclocking? In general, the odds of finding one which is _cheap_, _quiet_, and _cold_ is pretty low, though you can find two out of the three. For _cheap_ the best option seems to usually be the Intel boxed fan -- it's adequate, and the price difference between the OEM and box processor is usually under $20 if you really look. -- Nate Edel http://www.nkedel.com/ "Elder Party 2004: Cthulhu for President -- this time WE'RE the lesser evil." |

The Zalman is an excellent CPU cooler. I am using the AlCu model.
Following is a link to a review of a Swiftech CPU cooler that might perform better than the Zalman. http://www.ocprices.com/?rev_id=212 "Artistar" wrote in message ... the price is irrelevant - i just need the best cooler for this type of processor! everyone's tellin me to buy Zalman CNPS7000A-Cu! does anyone have any exprience with it?? Let me present the contrarian view, if you are not going to o/c, or not much, buy the retail box and spend your fan money on two extra case fans (assuming your case has just the right place for them. If your case doesn't have the right place for fans you are probably going to have problems with heat no matter what. I have been very satisfied with that setup, if you made a good choice on a case you should be able to o/c to 3.2 w/o heat issues, assuming you have reasonable ambient. -- bill davidsen ) SBC/Prodigy Yorktown Heights NY data center Project Leader, USENET news http://newsgroups.news.prodigy.com |
