Default Duron 1200 (12 * 100) OV to 1600 (12 * 133) should it work?

Hi there.
I have Giga-byte GA-7VAX Mainborad, Duron 1200, and PC2100 2*256 RAM.
I wanted to overclock my Duron 1200, but before pencil work i was trying to
overclock only with FSB. In standard bios features i can rise FSB from 100
to 132 Mhz, but 1320 Mhz is maximum, what i managed to do (110 Mhz FSB). I
thought, if i rise FSB to 133 Mhz, PCI and AGP clocks become back 33 and 66
Mhz.
My mainborad is rev 1.2 - there is only one Swith to set FSB (100 Mhz / Auto
= 133 Mhz). Default is 100 Mhz. If i change SW1 to Auto, my PC don't starts
(black screen imediately after turning power ON). Is 1600 Mhz to high for my
Duron? Is it necessary to low multipler (= penciling processor). Or maybe
problem is elsewher? Maybe before i swith SW1 i should rise Voltage? How
much? Maybe i should upgrade bios?
Thank You for all help
Greetings
Greg.

Hi
Pencil trick(or silver paint for more permanent link)
and try 133Mhz X 9.5.If you can give it more voltage
(up to 1.85v is fine (i go higher, but down to you)
and you can get the cpu to tell the motherboard
to supply it(link all L11 links) then try 133 X 10
1600 is to high for 1.2GHz,prob 1.4GHz max
Smiffy

You were right. 133Mhz * 9.5 is fine. But previous (100 Mhz * 12) i managed
to overclock FSB in bios to 110 Mhz and it was stable.
Now i'm able to set FSB between 133 and 165 Mhz. At the moment i'm testing
144 Mhz * 9.5. It looks fine.. In bios i also rised 5% Vcore Voltage.
I think 145 Mhz * 9.5 is the maximum, i can reach (but i'm not sure if it's
stable..). Frequencies higher than 1390 cause my WinXP hangs during load.
Now temperature of my CPU is about 46 C degrees. (Previous it was about 56 C
degrees - ;-))... I have just discovered, that cooler wasn't corectly set
up.. For last 8 months my CPU temperature was realy hot...)
Greeting
Greg

Well done
be wary of the pci speed
hard drives(most of them )start to kick up a fuss at 38Mhz pci spped +
so that means fsb at 152Mhz +(divided by 4)
and also depends on what your mem does as well

Thank You very much!
