DVD Rom Not Picking up DVD's
I just used the system restore cd that came with my computer (Compaq Presario 5000 Series.) I used it to restore my computer to it's "as shipped" condition. Anyway, this computer is five years old. It has a dvd rom drive and a cd rw drive. After re-installing Windows I put in a couple of dvd's to test the dvd drive. It would not pick up the dvd's. It will pick up audio cd's. I put in a Encarta 2001 DVD and it would not pick it up. I put in a Star Wars dvd and it would not pick it up. I put in a Jimmy Buffet audio cd and it played fine. So what in the heck is wrong with my dvd rom drive? I just re-installed Windows so it should run fine, shouldn't it? Anything I can do to get this dvd rom drive to start reading dvd's? Thanks! |

Ok, some of my dvd's play and the other do not. The ones' that seem to play are Warner Bros. dvd's. Anything else does not play. |

Many or most recent commercial DVDs are dual layer that older drives simply cannot interpret. Q |
