Default Blinking power light...

Yesterday, my eMachines T-6000 started an odd behavior. After being left on
for a while, I come back to find a blank screen and the power light blinking
off and on. Pushing and holding the power button has no effect. To get it to
stop blinking, so I can power it up again, I have to unplug it from the AC
mains.

Any ideas as to what is causing this? It has been working fine for eight
months. This is new behavior. TIA

stuck in hibernation or standby
sounds like a piece of hardware or its driver is not waking up.
