Default Dabs / Viewsonic

I've got a Viewsonic TFT monitor I bought last Sept or October from Dabs. In
the summer, I had to send it back because it had filled with insects (dealt
with very quickly), and then the replacement packed up in late August or
Early September (backlight flickered on then turned off immediately
afterwards). This was then sent back, and took almost a month to come back
after having to pester Viewsonic. When it came back, it was the same serial
number as before, and doesn't appear to have been fixed. Last monday I rang
them about it, and was told as I'd already had the screen back 3 times, it
would need to be referred to head office. They never got back to me, so I
rang them again today, and today there's nobody who can speak to head office
in, so I have to ring back tomorrow. It seems to me like they're ****ing me
about.

Have I got any recourse with Dabs, or have I ********ed that by going to the
manufactuer rather than them? It seems to me like even when I get a new
monitor from Viewsonic, it's liable to go wrong again in a very short time,
and I'd like my money back or a swap to another make of monitor...

You need to go to the OFT site to see your legal options; you can get advice
online. Don't these screen usually come with a 3yr on-site warranty? If so
and it is within the period, then they are responsible for repairing it. I
doubt they are bound to swap it for another make or give you your full cash
back. Likely, they will only be responsible for its repair. I seem to recall
that Dabs and others want you to go to the manufacturer rather than them, so
I do not think you have lost anything by doing so. Ultimately though the
responsibility for its working order is with Dabs - they took the money. I
do not think it has anything to do with three times or twenty times - if
they to fail repair it, then they must try again or give you a replacement
or a proportion of your money back

Yes Dabs and co have a habit of going deaf when they choose. Trading
Standards can quickly repair their hearing.

Good luck.
