Default Sata backplanes and RAID

Hello

I am going to build a small RAID 6 array for my school.

I was thinking about using the SNT-2131SATA backplane for 3 disk, and
use 2 of them for a total of 6 disks.
Using 500GB disks this would give me 2TB and RAID6 for reliability.

The problem is, on the site, only raid 0 and 1 are supported.

But other vendors just put RAID support on their site, no raid levels.

My idea was that the backplane is just a extension of the sata cable,
how can it interfere with RAID operation?

Any help would be nice
