Thus unreliable ???!!! Wow! What a slimy friggin SOB!

Second, the directory information is held in RAM when the disc is in use
so is easily corrupted or lost, particularly in a Windows crash or power
failure.

Why is the directory held in RAM?

Why, that is to extend the life of cd-rw media -- at the risk of
corrupted or lost data it is saving -- isn't that right, ****ing
Asshole?

the directory information
for fixed-length packets is held in RAM.

the information cannot be written back every time or
the directory area would be worn out very quickly.
======================

Imagine Roxio considers extending the life of cd-rw media more important
than the data it is saving!

Just what is the worth of cd-rw media whose life is extended -- at the
expense of the data it is saving? It's not even worth salvaging!

I have a couple of cdrw that don't work anymore.
You would think that you could at least
erase the cdrw and start again, right?

Even if you could erase it:

Why bother, given the cost of replacement?

[Just dug that out of your asshole, ****ing Asshole?]

Look, there's no magic to this. Players that are able to read CDs and
DVDs aren't actually playing CDs and DVDs, they're playing FILES! Any
player capable of playing MP3 files should be able to play them on
DVDs as well as on CDs provided the player can read from both types of
disc.

I have five set-top DVD players with MP3 capabiity; none will recognize
a DVD-ROM. Congratulations are in order that you have one that does. The
only "magic" involved is having a player which sees a DVD-ROM as it does
a CD-ROM - and which is compatible with the format of the disc.

"magic" be involved.

Directly after writing with PacketCD, ejection from the drive

After writing with PacketCD, the drive is blocked for 20 seconds.

The last required structures are then written on the CD,

I tried that, but it won't let me. I can add files to the project,
but when I try to burn it, it says "Please insert a blank disc"
and refuses to use the DVD+RW.

Plextor tech support tells me that they ARE able to add files in
the exact same situation. I asked them what software are you
using? They said EZCDDVD Creator Classic, just like me. I asked
what version? They replied 6.2.0.134 SP2. I have 6.1.1.7, which is
the latest update that Roxio has posted on their Web site.

So thank you, Roxio, for not posting updates to your bug filled
software.
