Don't know about others here, but your netiquette and 'spam-like' tone will
make me think twice before approaching your company. "Real-Storage" wrote in message link.net... Paul,
Now that you have legitimized our "spam-like" post with your "spam-like" response we feel it only fair to reply in kind. First, we had no intention of offending anyone. We apologize. Second, After some conversations with some professional news group posters we decided to take their advice and participate in the discussions where we can and we will do so when we can and as often as we can. We are storage experts after all why not benefit the community ? Third, we find it utterly amazing that spam is not treated equally. We have read "for Sale" posts, resumes posts, and other "spam-like" posts such as ours that received no reply whatsoever not even from you ! We are big boys and can handle the critique and we can learn from them too. Maybe an Acceptable Use FAQ should be posted a little more frequently ? Fourth, We have to laugh about the irony of the whole thing too. As we were being berated by a few of you our web traffic tripled for the day ! So I do not think you speak for everyone on this newsgroup as people have different levels of need where newsgroup information is concerned. (Refer back to #2) LASTLY ! I challenge any, all, and especially you TO THINK TWICE when purchasing storage equipment and solutions. When you compare the benefits of doing business with Real-Storage you will find that we are very tough to beat ! Bundled APC power solutions with product, Onsite installation, Live! web support that is open past 5 o'clock, and 16 month warranties and yet very cost competitive ! Again, we apologize to those who were offended by our "spam-like" post, we thank those professionals for their constructive comments, and we thank those of you who visited our website and made further product inquiries. Maybe *IF* you'd post as individuals, with names and everything, who *happen* to work for that company, you'd be extended greater consideration? I work for a storage company, as do many, many of us here (maybe even most?). But I post as an individual, not a corporate mouthpiece... I challenge any, all, and especially you TO THINK TWICE when purchasing storage equipment and solutions. Gosh. What an idea! How remarkable! We've (collectively) been merrily paying *BILLIONS* of dollars for solutions for years, and never thought of that! Have you any idea of the price of a high-end EMC/Hitachi/Whatever box? When you compare the benefits of doing business with Real-Storage you will find that we are very tough to beat ! Or trivially easy to beat. Pick one. Bundled APC power solutions with product, That's handy.... unless you have a full-scale power system already in place. So that when the power goes out, your *entire* system remains alive... Onsite installation, Live! Beats off-site installation, or "dead" installation, I suppose. But I've never seen either of those options offered by anyone... web support that is open past 5 o'clock, Oh, dear. My customers don't have access to "web support" in their systems room. I thought you said you were "hard to beat"? [ Snip ] Real-Storage Malc. |

Fourth, We have to laugh about the irony of the whole thing too. As we were
being berated by a few of you our web traffic tripled for the day ! Many email spammers seem to make good money. Look... Whatever the merits of this particular discussion (I haven't been following it, missed the original post and it's expired here), the argument that "crime doesn't pay, this pays, so obviously it's not crime" is pretty threadbare. The fact is, crime does pay, otherwise people wouldn't keep doing it. -- I've seen things you people can't imagine. Chimneysweeps on fire over the roofs of London. I've watched kite-strings glitter in the sun at Hyde Park Gate. All these things will be lost in time, like chalk-paintings in the rain. `-_-' Time for your nap. | Peter da Silva | Har du kramat din varg, idag? 'U` |

Malc:
Is the solution to create a new newsgroup called "comp.arch.storage.spam" for vendors selling storage, resume posters, and other spam-lie posts, etc.? Buddy "Malcolm Weir" wrote in message ... Being the person that originally took Real_storage to task for their
introductory post to the newsgroup, I have to say that in subsequent email conversations they've been reasonable and recognize that this was not the best way to approach comp.arch.storage. I'll grant that the "apology" left something to be desired, but I'm inclined to take them at their word that they'll not spam the group again and will try to participate in a more positive fashion, so I say let it drop for now and see how things turn out. -- Nik Simpson |
