Default SoundMax

I a\have been struggling with identifying why my PC will not automatically enter standby mode. After using msconfig, I determined that when just Windows Audio Service was left unchecked, the system would automatically enter standby. If I checked it (default) it would not enter standby. I then removed the SoundMax audio drivers, leaving Windows Audio Service running. My system entered standby automatically. I reinstalled the SoundMax drivers and now again, the system will not enter standby. Using a P4C800-E. Anyone have similar problems and/or a solution? Thanks.
