I don't know where you dug up that post of mine, it's ages old. I've
long since switched isp's, use Thunderbird and have had him kill filed
for months. On or off topic isn't the complaint, it's the gratuitous
rant he supplies with each post, which then gets quoted when people respond.

The speed rating is imprinted into the info sector on the disc at
manufacture to be read by your CD-RW software. Some CD-RW software
will allow you to ignore or overide this. Adaptec's doesn't.


Although you can choose to override & ignore it with some CD-RW
software, reliablity is reduced significantly using 2X CD-RW at 2X
IME. In this case it apears the singnificance of the rating isn't
purely cosmetic or a segmented marketing initiative, and Adaptec's
software is smarter than the average user. smiles
