Anyone using this group?
Seems dead, which is a suprise considering how many webcams are out
there. Is there a more popular place for discussing them? I'm trying to catch a destructive squirrel with mine. But I really need a better zoom. This digital zoom loses so much clarity that I can barely see a blur. -- Regards from Mike and Jan Barnard. South Coast, UK. [To reply by email remove ".trousers" spamtrap from email address] |

I still see some very good posts on this newsgroup. Its a lot better
than some of the other usenet newsgroups. I have a Logitech cam and I capture shots for my webcam and community pages. I still have to figure out how to stream to my AOL pages though. One interesting thing that I did with my webcam was to make a little movie using some program that I installed a while ago and forgot about. I have also used my cam with Yahoo Messager - still haven't been able to use Netmeeting with it though. Rose http://members.aol.com/Roseb441702/webcam.htm |

Now what do I need to hook it up? fx Google... I tried this. I have a Canon MV150i. Hooked it up via Firewire port. Active Webcam picked it up OK, but the image showed all the info that is usually on the viewfinder/screen....zoom factor, battery level, etc. Shame really as the 32x optical zoom would have been good. Didn't try taking the svhs output into my capture card though so not sure if that will work. Don't know about MV750i, but 150i shuts itself down after a few minutes if there is 'no activity'..that is no stop/start, etc. I can't find a way to stop the Auto shut off either. It seems to be a function that you cannot override. I also tried it with an old Sony analogue videocam. Worked well providing I put a tape in, but the poor old camera ended up throwing in the towel one day, |

Dylan,
How did you attach the 200mm lens to your toucam webcam? "dylan" wrote in message ... "Mike Barnard" wrote in message ... Seems dead, which is a suprise considering how many webcams are out there. Dylan, How did you attach the 200mm lens to your toucam webcam? look at www.knighttrain.freeserve.co.uk/lens.htm you need a webcam to telescope adaptor 1.25" fitting, modified rear lens cap (drill 32mm hole) and an additional adaptor attached to the lens cap. |

If the cam has an analog output (for connecting to a tv or vcr), then you would use an analog video capture card/device. If it only has firewire output, then you would need to use a second party software like webcamdv to make the video available to most webcam programs (some webca programs do support the firewire capture format). |
