Default Tbred B 1700+ and Abit KR7A-RAID

I bought a Athlon Tbred B 1700+ and put it on my Abit KR7A-RAID after
upgrading to the latest bios CX. I can get it up to 12.5x140fsb, but that's
the last multiplier I have. Is it possible to get higher multipliers with
this board. btw this is one of those tbreds (1.5V) that can be overclocked
very high so it is a real waste if I can't do it. thanks.

Change default multiplier from 11 to 13 by cutting L3-3 and L3-5 bridges.
Then see Multiplier Cross Ref. in link below.

ive been trying to get a higher multiplier my L3 is 0-0-C-C-0 and L1 is
closed on my 1700 tbred!! but when i try to boot with any wire mod it wont
post!
ive had a look at many sites included wes newell`s but its all makes no
sense! i want to run at over 2ghz on multipliers!! how can this be done! my
chipset is VIA KT266!!! any ideas????

cheers

I did it. I used AMD Pin Mode and get 2300MHz (T-Bred B 1700+, Abit
KR7a-RAID). i also had to use voltage settings with pin mode because I could
set only to 1,625V max.

First. I don't understand why you cut L3-1,2, &5 when you needed to cut -3
& -5 as stated below.
Second. Why are you using the wire mod?

I thought I had spelled it out pretty clear below. Although I didn't
mention vcore. You'll probably need more than 1.5v to run 2000MHz. Start
at 1.65v, although it will probably run with 1.60v or maybe less. 1.65v is
default for all of the cpu's over 1800MHz.

I also have this setup (KR7A133 and T-bird 1700+ DLT3C JIUHB). I too,
would like to get higher multipliers and leave the FSB at 133. Now, when
you say 'cut', I assume this means that there should be no connection
between the top and bottom 'dots' on the cpu? Well, mine doesn't appear to
have any connectors (i.e. it is already cut?). There are some darker
shades on the L9 and L5 areas - is this what it looks like when the
bridges are connected? However, nothing seems to be connected on the
L3 line. Does this make any sense, or do I have absolutely no idea what
I'm talking about? What am I cutting? What is the best way to get the
higher multipliers working? Thanks for a bit of patience explaining it to
the new guy.

Regards,

Bob

The bridges (small traces like you would see on a printed circuit board)
are actually underneath a layer of the coating of the cpu. On
a 1700+, these are all intact and you wouldn't see the actual lines and it
would appear that nothing is connected, but they all are. You have to cut
the line that's just under the surface of the cpu. With a poerful
magnifying glass and a bright light you can see the trace. Use extreme
caytion not to cut too deep, and not to cut more than the one(s) you want.
I used an exacto knife, but you can use your imagination. Use a mag glass
and look at some of the laser cuts on some of the other bridges on the
cpu. A low power microscope might even work better to see this.
Personally, I double up on glasses, look through a big inspection glass
and then to reall see close, use another mag glass under that.:-)

I see now... thanks VERY much for making it clearer. It looks like this
will be a bit bigger (no pun intended) of a job than I thought. I may
have to cut back on my coffee intake before trying (don't want those hands
shaking!) Thanks again Wes and Ed for your responses.

Best Regards,

Bob
